Hijabi Princess Project: Snow White and Aurora

I have a very strange obsession with animated princesses. I know some of them don't encompass all the values I would want in a daughter/sister, but they really do reflect the ideal girl in their times. I was inspired by this lovely blogger who created gorgeous outfits inspired by the princesses (you should definitely check her out!) and I thought it would be awesome to make hijabi ones as well. :) I definitely plan on doing all 10 Disney princesses, Disney heroins (like Esmeralda) and some more non-Disney characters (Anastasia, Thumbelina, etc.) I hope you enjoy!

Snow White

Snow White is the first Disney princess (the movie came out in the late 1930s!) I'm sure most of you know her story! If you haven't, you should definitely plan a movie day where you can watch old children's favorites to relive that childhood experience. Here are reasons why I love her:
  • She is super patient, even when her own freakin stepmom tried to kill her
  • She is optimistic and happy
  • She's super kind

I put together this outfit based on the above outfit that she wears for most of the movie:

I found that wearing a yellow skirt (like Snow White does) was a bit too unsettling for me, so I switched the colors! Tuck in the yellow shirt and wrap and red belt around your waist for the perfect touch :) I stuck with a black hijab because red seemed too bold for me.

Outfit number 2:

I liked the puffiness of these sleeves. The colors are a bit bold, you gotta be brave!

Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

I love all the princesses, and although Aurora is included, she is probably my least favorite one. She's in the movie for a total of 14 minutes. Otherwise, here are the things I like about her:

  • She doesn't care whether or not the person she marries is a prince
  • She's also patient and kind

Here's an outfit that's a bit on the fancy side:

Perfect for weddings! I absolutely looove this dress (ignore the slit on the side). To make it casual, you could just substitute the dress for a simpler one, and top off a cardigan instead of a white undershirt. Aurora wears a gold necklace, so I thought this necklace was a pretty addition. I also included a gold headband that you could wear on top of your pink hijab, or have it peaking on top of the underpiece hijab. And don't you just love the gold owl ring? Looks just like the one in the movie!

Just be creative!

Keep on the lookout for Cinderella and Ariel next :)

(I created the outfits on Polyvore and the princess pictures are retrieved from Google)
