Islamic Songs
Islamic Singers
-Dallah Abd
I wanted to start this blog post with a list of lame lyrics. Then I realized that their are just way too many.
Don't get me wrong. I listen to the radio. Have the latest songs popping in my head all the time, and rock out to them at parties. Yet at the same time, I can't get over how demeaning and brainwashing they can be. I mean, honestly what do all the popular artists sing about these days? Sex, drugs, fame, love, pride, partying, glorifying youth and being the boss of your life. If you are just having fun with your friends and the songs are playing I don't personally think its a big deal, but when those songs become the generic idea of what you live your life by (which are usually morally wrong for a Muslims).. well thats when I get uncomfortable with the matter haha
So. What can you do? If you just want to listen to some tunes that don't make you feel crappy or uncomfortable you may want to research and make your own playlist with motivational, inspirational and songs with depth and meaning.
Believe it or not there are a lot of very talented artists in the Muslim Community who are involved in music. So, I thought I would share a few of my personal faves. :)
So back in my early years of high school my friend Sadia introduced my sisters and I to a hip-hop band called, Outlandish. The group is made up of three guys based in Denmark. Their lyrics are mainly in English but there are parts with Spanish, Urdu, Arabic and Danish. My favorite songs by them are:
Also, of course Sami Yusuf! The famous Sami Yusuf has many beautiful songs both instrumental versions and ones without music:
Another is Dawud Warnsby. This is a poem/song that I think he sings beautifully mashallah.
Maher Zain, is a relatively new artist to me. I just recently heard about him. He will be visiting the Richardson, TX area soon for a concert! You should check it out! :)
Well I hope this compiled list sparks your interest in some of the Muslim artists in the industry! If you have any other songs that you want to share don't forget to add them in the comments! :)

i totally agree!its okay if ur just having fun but when you look into the lyrics youre like WHAT lol.i love outlandish and theyve acually come out with a new song called triumf.its quite good :) its a shame that many nasheed artists have stopped making good songs.when i was young i used to always listen to them, now theres only maher zain and outlandish i guess.but still.slow moving millie isnt a nasheed artist but her lyrics are okay ,better than rhianna lol.I have also become addicted to arab songs which have a more lighter meaning of love and intead is more playful and not so dirty.
Yea I heard triumf! its pretty good and upbeat :) I havent heard of slow moving millie but I will definitely check it out. Alot of arab songs are like that :P its funny though cuz when you look up the literal translation it sounds really cheesy and funny :P haha
