Disney Pixar's Brave

Merida: Legend of the Highlands

We have typical princesses on one hand, and we have "Princess" Merida,on the other. Disney Pixar is releasing the movie, "Brave" this summer, which is set in Scotland, in a rugged, mythical time. Merida, makes a reckless choice, causing unintended peril and must set things straight depending on her bravery and archery skills.

From the start of the trailer Merida is defintely a non-traditional Princess. She looks interesting with fire red curly hair and wide oval shaped face, not a typical Disney princess look what so ever.

I don't know about you all, but every time Merida is wielding her bow and arrow in the trailer I feel a resemblance to the character Katniss, from the Hunger Games.

Merida's personality seems stubborn and free-willed, a little bit of the Disney princess stubborness I guess. She speaks of wanting to earn her freedom. Princess Jasmin spoke of that, yet her story definetly pushed towards love as a solution, just as the other Disney Princesses did. Merida seems so strong willed that I expect her to act impulsively and then probably learn a big moral lesson by the end of the movie. So, she probably wont be a damsel in distress, but instead play the brave role of being a hero. If she does end up having a love interest, which I still doubt, I would expect it to be more of a relation ship like Hiccup and Astrid's in, How to Train Your Dragon.

As for Merida's dad he seems to be a big teddy bear and laid back and has a really cool relationship with her. He kinda reminds me of Stoik the Vast, (Hiccup's dad) in How to Train Your Dragon. Her mother seems to be more traditional and expects more "lady like" behaviors.

I remember when I saw the teaser trailer I didn't think much of the movie. But after seeing, "The Prize," I am a bit interested. I wonder how the story is gonna play out. It kinda reminds me of the movie, Quest for Camelot. Now that's an old movie haha. I hope she is a strong female role and maybe even a little inspirational to some young girls. I don't see anything wrong with liking Princess movies but some change would be really awesome. Give us some girls with brains! haha Every Disney Princess has a heart for loving, I just hope this girl has some extra brains for thinking haha

Keep me updated with what you think! Will you be seeing this film?

Oh and some good ol' rain boots :P

This would have been perfect for Valetine's Day! V-Day post here!

Favorite dresses on favorite celebrities!

Ok so for today I was feeling a little fancy and decided to stare at gowns I'd never be able to afford and maybe share with you all (: There is no specific order I'm just gonna go through and state what I personally think is the most outstanding part of their gowns. I tried choosing young celebrities that everyone knew (:

I cant find who designed this dress (If anyone knows tell me!) But I like it and dont at the same time haha. I love the color (Yellow is my favorite color).(SHE CHOOSES HER ACCESSORIES SO WELLL) The diamonds look great and the way it flows down, and it looks great on her chest but hey now Miley we dont wanna see your bellybutton. Lol im joking honestly overall I think this was a good pick for her. Oh and I hate the bottom of the dress btw .

Miley Cyrus In Zuhair Murad Dress For Oscars 2009

This dress is mind blowing! Its so elegant and just such a hand full I cant take it! The colors just fit so well and the way it fits on her body looks really good too! I think the one Miley is wearing is a size smaller then the models, I think she got a different one. Idk but both look stunning! (My favorite part is between the belt and drape/petals)

These 3 beautiful girls are (right to left) Ariana Grande, Jennette McCurdy, and Im not sure who the girl on the left is but she looks awesome (: These are just a few dresses that I like. Especially Jennette she looks BEAUTIFUL, I never knew she had a body like that or that I'd see her in a dress lol.

At the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, which were held on March 7, 2010
Cyrus wore a floor-length champagne-colored strapless dress by designer Jenny Packham.

I have to say I think this is one of my all time favorites on Miley. She has such a nice figure, and I know for a fact
I'd never be able to pull this dress of lol. First I want to point out her diamond cuff and how it works perfectly with
the sequins at her waist. Plus the color of her hair is so vibrant, I really like the color choice in this do up. Fluidity
really was taken to consideration in this.

Ariana Grande!
Dashing as she always is. This is my favorite on her, because the color looks so nice on her and I like the Idea of this dress it seems like it would make a good prom/graduation dress(:
Demi Lovato at the Peoples choice awards of 2012.
This will be my wedding dress. I love this dress so much I have it on my binder lol. I love her and the dress and her face and everything about this. The salmon color really pops out the color of her skin and how the beading in the middle really draws in all the fabric into one. This dress who ever designed it is a genius.
Last one: Ok here we have Ariana Grande again. This dress isn't the most splendid, and flashy dress ever and I think that is what I like about it. I feel that the purpose for this was to draw your eyes to her hair and keep it there. Plus how the back of the dress is put together gives her the purpose to turn to side and flash that nice beautiful hair of hers.

(See what im saying)

Ok, so I hope you enjoyed this, maybe not the writing but the pictures (: lol they are all so pretty!
Well bye <3

Hearts for Syria

In the Spirit of Valentine's Day

So every year I celebrate Valentine's Day as a day of friendship and take a moment to be thankful for everyone that I love. This year, a lot of us are full of sadness for the people suffering all over the world. Especially for Syria during this hard time (check it out).

If you are not aware there is a murder going on right at this very moment. This past week entire families have been murdered by the Syrian government in Homs, Syria. The most I can do, or you can do is raise awareness! Every human life is valuable and this is truly heart breaking. This Valentine's Day, I ask of you. To please. Remember the people of Syria, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Somalia, and the list goes on. Basically, remember the world. Maybe for a minute, we can all mourn those lost due to the loss of love in people's hearts and learn something.

Let us revive that love for humanity we all once had. Unite with the love of brother hood/sister hood. Stand up against corruption, against oppression, against hate. We are all one. Created by one no matter what our different faiths, nationalities or views. So why do we not embrace one another with arms of forgiveness? Forget the little things. Think of the big picture. Humanity needs us, so let us open our hearts to it. Instead of openly conforming to ignorance and indulging in so many worldly thing that we can not see the true creation. Let us show the world that one smile, one moment of kindness, one acknowledgment or one prayer is something more.

Please take these words with you, and do an act of kindness this Valentine's Day. Whether it is spreading awareness, showing a stranger an act of kindness, forgiving a little, or accepting yourself for who you are.

Because in the end, love has so many aspects. Its more that just the lust in the movies, its having a heart that bleeds for others when you see them suffering, and that is all I ask of you.

Thank You, Dallah Abd
P.S. dont forget to look at the inspired outfits below! <3

Finding the right pair of Combat boots ♥

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing just fantastic (: I don't know about you guys but I've had the longest week at school! So I am extra excited for this post to get my mind focused on something I actually enjoy which is COMBAT BOOTS!!!! Lemme tell you guys something I completely adore Combat boots. They are my absolute FAVORITE shoe style, and if I can pull it off on any sort of outfit I most definitely will wear them.

Now I only have one pair of combats which aren't the over the top kind with all the buckles or bulgy bottoms but its more flat and only goes to the ankle with soft leather and is brown. Combat boots are either of two things: Super decorated over the top, or simple flat. (and it is really hard choosing between the two!) But one thing that is for sure is that they are Highly priced! So I am going to pic out some reasonably priced ones (in my opinion).

The first pair I am going to show you are Dr.Martens Floral 1460 Lace-Up Boot
Which can be found at Urban outfitters They are $130 (Ok I already broke my promise to keeping these reasonably priced lol)

I really like these because of the floral pattern which is really
in now lately. Also the stitching at bottom that if pink is really exotic and brings out that denim look. These could be worn with a long black maxi skirt or denim skinny jeans,

oh and also it comes in different colors EXCITING!

Ok these next ones are..

Roxy Montana Lace Up Boot

The are probably most commonly worn looking combat boots, and you can purchase them for $64.99 ( w/ and extra 30% discount at check out online only!) They are suede with a super soft inside, and have red lace ups!
They can also be found in brown!

I dont know if I am really diggin' the red lace up's but over all these boots are breath taking (I think I want to purchase them myself). Another thing is that Pacsun is one of my favorite brands to buy shoes from, actually the only shoes I've ever bought from them were always Boots! If you want these I'd say go for it!

Now here I am going to give an example of the probably to most COMMON combat boot that girls buy (which I have nothing against these). They are Contrast Trim Work Boots from Forever21. They can be purchased for $32.80.
I actually do like these very much, but I feel like that they are very limited to what outfits you can wear with them, but over all I am loving the studs the most ( I have an obsession with studs lol). What is pulling me a little is the buckle, I personally believe that buckles belong on pants or such as a belt over your shirt. Not on shoes, but it matters on how they are put. Over all these boots I'd give them a score of 5 out of 10.
(The side view makes it look a lot better)

Now these are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, They are Gordon Mesh Boot - Ivory from JEFFREY CAMPBELLS COLLECTION AHHHHGGGHGHGHGHGHGH, and they are affordable (: ( A little insider my all time favorite shoe wear designer is Jeffrey Campbell, he is the designer of the all time famous LITAS) Any who these can be purchased for $67 which were originally $148. You can get them at Nasty gal.

(These are all the pictures I could find of it
Ok so what I really love about these is the length of the boot, the shortness of the heel, and how it is ivory mesh. I have never seen boots like these and they are just absolutely cute! The toes to have an extra layer so your toes are protected the foot lining is cushioned insole. These lace ups go perfectly with a floral dress! I am gonna go do me some shopping (;

Well I hope you guys like these, and I gave out some ideas for when you go shopping! Even if you can't buy these exact same ones just look for the style in other combat boots! And if you buy any of any kind SEND ME PICTURES!! at arabmilk@gmail.com

Hijabi Princess Project: Jasmine

Salam :)
I present my namesake and probably the hottest princess: Jasmine.

Jasmine

I loved Aladdin as a child. For one, they were Arab (like me), the girl's name was Jasmine, (like me, kinda), and Genie was just downright hilarious. (Plus I wanted to marry Aladdin *cough*). But here is why Jasmine is awesome:
  • She's spunky and stands her ground
  • She doesn't care whether Aladdin is a prince or not
  • She's clever (she tricked Jafar)
Outfit no. 1: Aqua outfit

I looove harem pants. Soo hijab friendly and gorgeous! I matched the harem pants with hers, and added pointy shoes similar to the ones she's wearing but in gold. I added a black shirt to match her long black hair. Make sure you apply a perfect winged eyeliner, that's what she's famous for!

Outfit no. 2: Engagement announcement

I added a blouse with a sort of bubble skirt to match hers. I mixed sweet (the flowers) with edgy (the leather jacket). I thought oxfords were perfect with this look!

Outfit no. 3: Jafar's slave

This outfit was super sultry, so I trie to mimic that (in a hijab-friendly way, of course!). I mixed red harem pants with a gold sequin cardigan and black top. Stick a gold headband on top of your black hijab as an accessory. The necklace symbolizes Rajah, Jasmine's tiger. And don't you LOVE these shoes?

Pocahontas soon inshallah!
Pictures of Jasmine from Google. Outfits assembled on Polyvore.

Salam!
Yassmin
